Pedrito, an 8-year-old boy, arrives in Montreal with his parents in search of a new
life. Confronted with the cold and the language barrier, he finds refuge with his mother, Penélope, with whom he shares a passion for painting. The family takes shelter with Doña Mila, an enigmatic old woman whose home seems to be a passage between two worlds, where the living coexist with their memories and their dead.
In this space suspended between dream and reality, Pedrito becomes convinced that the Child Jesus will help him return to Colombia with his family. But on Christmas Eve, he discovers that the Child Jesus is none other than his own father. This revelation allows him to understand that his mother passed away in Colombia and that his family emigrated to Montreal to escape this tragedy. The Child Jesus is an exploration of grief, exile, and the power of the imagination as a path to acceptance.
